Maple Story

Maple Story, developed by Wizet, is a Korean 2D action MMORPG. Like most RPG's, an experience point system is implemented to track character progress throughout the game. Maple Story is often referred to as Grind Story because of the ridiculous amounts of time it takes to level up. Despite the childish graphics and dedication required to gain levels, Maple Story still has a very large fan base.

The player creates their character as a beginner, and after 8-10 levels, they are allowed to advance into one of the four different jobs: Bowman, warrior, magician, thief. After the job advancement, more grinding awaits the player.

Although there are many things to do besides killing monsters to advance levels, these tasks are often just different forms of grinding. For example, once a player reaches level 21, they may participate in a party quest with 3 of their best friends (or total strangers). The first few times through the party quest are quite entertaining, but when a user must complete the same party quest 15-20 times to advance one level, the work is quite tedious.
